Men's soccer: Offense comes alive in RMAC-opening win

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Metropolitan State University of Denver matched a season high in goals in a 4-1 win at Westminster College (Utah) on Friday evening in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Roadrunners improved to 3-1-1 overall, while WC fell to 1-2. It was the first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game this season for both teams. This is Westminster's first season in the conference.

Dustin Berg (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) scored two goals and had an assist for a career-high five points to lead the Roadrunners offense. He scored in the ninth minute and again in the 70th for a 3-0 lead after Brock Labertew (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon H.S.) headed in a free kick in the 57th minute. Freshman Jaydon Moreschini (Pueblo West, Colo./Pueblo West H.S.) assisted on Labertew's goal and then scored his first career goal in the 88th minute to make the lead 4-2 after a pair of late goals by WC's Jonnathan Rodriguez made it a one-goal game in the 87th minute.

Six different Roadrunners had an assist in the game, including Moreschini and Kevin Beck (Chandler, Ariz./Basha H.S.) both notching the first of their freshman careers.

Hayden Rus (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) made two saves in goal for MSU Denver, which outshot Westminster 18-7.

The Roadrunners will play at defending RMAC champion Colorado Mesa on Sunday.
