ALAMOSA, Colo. - Metropolitan State University of Denver earned a 25-17, 25-19, 25-23 sweep at Adams State on Friday night. The Roadrunners improved to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while ASU dropped to 2-9 and 1-2.
The smothering Roadrunners defense held the Grizzlies to a .089 hitting percentage in the match, while connecting at a .206 clip behind 33 assists from setter

Michaela Smith (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) led the team with 11 kills, but it was
Ryan Hoerdemann (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe H.S.) who had eight kills and hit .500 to set the tone of the offense.
Vasati Fiatoa (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.) added seven kills and
Summer Greager (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian H.S.) had six. Greager also led the team with 13 digs, while successfully passing all 25 of her serve-receive attempts.
The Roadrunners hit .357 in the first set, their most dominant of the night. In the second set, it was the defense that stepped up to hold ASU to a minus-.057 hitting percentage. The Roadrunners pulled away from a 17-17 tie with eight of the final 10 points. Tied 22-22 in the third set, they pulled away with three late points with the match finishing on a kill by Hoerdemann.
MSU Denver will play at Fort Lewis on Saturday night.
