DENVER - Josh Belfrage (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.) scored in the 75th minute as Metropolitan State University of Denver edged Colorado Christian 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at The Regency Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners improved to 5-2-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while CCU fell to 0-8-0 and 0-4-0.
Belfrage dribbled through much of the CCU defense from midfield and fired a shot from the top of the 18-yard box past the Cougars goalkeeper for the lone score.
MSU Denver dominated the game, outshooting CCU 27-5. Two defenders had to make team saves at different times in the game to keep the Roadrunners off the board and
Danny Arrubla (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton H.S.) hit a post with another shot in the second half.
Hayden Rus (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) did not have to make any saves as CCU went without a shot on goal as he picked up his second shutout of the season.
The Roadrunners will host UCCS at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
