DENVER - Zach Egeler scored with 47 seconds left in double overtime to give visiting University of Colorado Colorado Springs a 1-0 victory over Metropolitan State University of Denver on Wednesday night at The Regency Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners fell to 5-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while UCCS improved to 5-3-0 and 3-1-0.
Egeler scored on a wide-open shot in the center of the box after the Roadrunners failed to clear a long service into the box.
Both teams had plenty of scoring opportunities throughout the game as the Roadrunners put 10 shots on goal and UCCS had six. The Mountain Lions hit the right post twice in the second half of the game and a UCCS defender stopped a shot from going into the net as well.
Hayden Rus (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) made five saves for MSU Denver in goal.
The Roadrunner will play at CSU-Pueblo on Friday.
