Denver - The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team lost to Colorado Mesa Friday night at the Auraria Event Center 59-45. The Roadrunners fell to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in RMAC while the Mavericks improved to 8-4 overall and 5-4 in RMAC.
The Roadrunners were led by sophomore
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) who scored 15 points and had seven rebounds. MSU Denver had a strong defensive presence in the first half as they stopped the Mavericks from scoring for over ten minutes. The Roadrunners during this streak were able to score 15 unanswered points. Ohrdorf scored 13 points and had five rebounds in the first half. MSU Denver managed to score 12 points off of turnovers and the half ended with MSU Denver leading 31-22.
MSU Denver battled through the second half, however, the team was unable to keep the lead. The contest finished with MSU Denver shooting 15.4 percent in the second half and only managing one three-point field goal in the final 14 minutes of the game.
Sophomore
Hannah Stipanovich (St. Louis, Mo./Clayton H.S.) added nine points and five rebounds for the Roadrunners and sophomore
Emily Hartegan (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East H.S.) also added eight points and six rebounds. Colorado Mesa was led by Bryanna Adams who scored 18 points on the night.
The Roadrunners will be back in action Saturday, January 9 at 5 p.m. as to host Westminster at the Auraria Event Center.
