Spearfish, S.D.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team defeated Black Hills State 6-1 Sunday, October 16. The Roadrunners move to 5-4-4 overall and 4-3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Yellow Jackets are now 1-12 overall and 0-8 in conference play.
The Roadrunners came out of the gates quickly with a goal in the sixth minute by sophomore
Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) on an assist from junior
Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.). Boisnard quickly followed her assist with a goal of her own in the eighth minute to put the Roadrunners up 2-0 on the Yellow Jackets. MSU Denver continued to dominate the game as Banks recorded her second goal of the game in the 32
nd minute. Junior
Kaylee Bourelle (Castle Rock, Colo./Castle View High School) added one more goal in the 37
th minute to push the Roadrunner lead to 4-0. In the first half the Roadrunners outshot the Yellow Jackets 17-3 and had the edge on corner kicks 4-2.
The Yellow Jackets were the first to strike in the second half with Black Hills State's only goal in the 48
th minute by Rose Miller to make the score 4-1. Freshman
Gricelda Gomez (Baskersfield, Calif./Foothill High School) responded for MSU Denver with two goals in three minutes; Boisnard recorded her third assist of the game on Gomez's second goal. The Roadrunners outshot the Yellow Jackets in the game 40-6 and led in corner kicks 16-2. MSU Denver also played stifling defense as freshman
Kaylee Mackenzie (Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills High School) stepped in at goal and only had to save two shots.
The Roadrunners return home to face UCCS on Friday, October 21 at the Regency Athletic Complex at 5 p.m..
