Women's Soccer: Record Breaking Start Gives the Roadrunners a 7-0 win over UCCS

Boisnard scores first goal 10 seconds into game

Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team defeated UCCS Friday, October 21st 7-0. The Roadrunners improved to 7-4-4 overall and 6-3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mountain Lions fell to 2-11-1 overall and 5-4-2 in the RMAC.
 
MSU Denver got off to its fastest start in women's soccer program history when junior Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) scored just ten seconds into the game, breaking the previous program record set in 2004 by Yamara Guante scoring 34 seconds into the game against CSU-Pueblo. Freshmen forward Gricelda Gomez (Baskersfield, Calif./Foothill High School) scored twice shorty after both from shots inside the box to put the Roadrunners up 3-0 going into the second half. The Roadrunners out shot the Mountain Lions in the first half 8 shots to 4.
 
MSU Denver came out of the gates on fire in the second half when Sophmore Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) scored in the 47th minute and 60th minute scoring her seventh and eighth goal of the season. The Roadrunners continued to add pressure to the Mountain Lions with goals scored by Raegan Staib (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield Christian H.S.) in the 77th minute and Kaylee Mackenzie (Chino Hills, Calif./Chino Hills High School) in the 79th minute making the final score 7-0. Banks and Gomez finished the game with two goals a piece, and Boisnard provided one goal and two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Erica Torres (Bakersfield, Calif./Baskersfield High School) finished with six saves in the game. 
 
The Women's soccer team is back in action again for senior day on Sunday, October 23rd when they take on Western State Colorado at 12 P.M.
