Salt Lake City, Utah- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's soccer team (9-6-1, 7-4-1 RMAC) defeated Westminster (3-12, 2-10 RMAC) 1-0 on Sunday, October 23.

The two teams battled back and forth in the first half but neither was able to put points on the board. Despite being outshot 9-4 overall and 7-2 in shots on net, the Roadrunners were able to make the most of their opportunities.

In the second half, senior
Tyler Trujillo (Denver, Colo./Mullen H.S.) connected on an assist to fellow senior
Jeff Gillis (Aurora, Colo./Smoky Hill H.S.) to put the Roadrunners up 1-0 in the 55
th minute of the match. The goal was the fourth of 2016 for Gillis as well and Trujillo's first assist of the season.

MSU Denver was able to hold on for the big Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win on Sunday, with senior goalkeeper
Hayden Rus (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert H.S.) finishing the match with 7 saves. The shutout marked Rus' second of the season.

The Roadrunners conclude regular season play at home next weekend at the Regency Athletic Complex. MSU Denver will host Adam State on October 28 at 5 p.m. followed by Fort Lewis at 11 a.m. on October 30.
