Colorado Springs, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team (12-3, 7-0 RMAC) remains undefeated in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play under first year head coach Jenny Glenn after defeating UC-Colorado Springs (8-7, 3-4 RMAC) on Tuesday, October 5.
The Roadrunners jumped out to an early lead after a back and forth battle in the first set, taking the 1-0 lead in the match after a 25-23 win. MSU Denver recorded 15 kills. They would continue their momentum into the second set, winning 25-22.
The Roadrunners were able to complete the sweep taking the third set with authority, 25-14. Senior Michaela Smith (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) ended the match with 15 kills, followed by junior Ryan Hoerdemann (Littleton, Colo./Arapahoe H.S.) with ten. Senior Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) racked up 37 assists and sophomore outside hitter Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.)collected 15 digs in the match.
MSU Denver will next travel to Salt Lake City, Utah to take on Westminster College on Saturday, October 8 for their next RMAC match.
