Portland, Ore.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team (2-1) defeated Saint Martin's (1-2) on Friday, November 18 in the Concordia Classic.

In the first quarter, the Roadrunners started off hot getting out to an early 7-2 lead. The Saint fought to narrow the lead in the quarter, but MSU Denver led 19-13 after the first. Junior
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) lead the Roadrunners with eight points and the team was perfect from the free throw line going 9-9.

Emily Hartegan (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East H.S.) was the spark plug for the Roadrunners in the second quarter, going into the locker room with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Ohrdorf was right behind her with 11 points to help the Roadrunners to a 33-23 halftime lead over the Saints. MSU Denver held the advantage in rebounds 24-14 at the half.

MSU Denver continued their momentum into the second half, outscoring the Saints 29-15 to seal the 59-38 victory. Ohrdorf finished the game with 20 points, seven rebounds and 4 assists while Hartegan totaled 18 points and eight assists on the night. Junior
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) added in seven points and four boards for the Roadrunners.

MSU Denver's defense was tenacious all game long, holding Saint Martin's to just 18.8% shooting from the field and leading in rebounds 44-35.

On the offensive end, the Roadrunners dominated points in the paint 24-12 and finished shooting 80% (16-20) from the line.

MSU Denver will continue play in the Concordia Classic on Saturday, November 19 against host Concordia at 4 p.m. P.T.
