Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team (3-1) defeated host Concordia University (Ore.) 70-55 at the Concordia Classic on Saturday, November 19.

The Roadrunners continued their momentum from yesterday's victory into the first quarter against Concordia. MSU Denver jumped out to a 24-11 lead with the help of junior
Emily Hartegan (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East H.S.) and
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) who each racked up six points in the first quarter. The Roadrunners shot 50% from the field compared to Concordia's 25%.

The Roadrunners continued to play sound defense, as they did the night before, holding Concordia to just 21.4% shooting from the field in the first half. MSU Denver went into the locker room with a 30-18 lead and dominated the points in the paint 18-4.

Concordia made a dent in the Roadrunner lead by the end of the third but MSU Denver still led 49-37. Sophomore
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) was leading the Roadrunners with eight rebounds and added in two assists at the end of the quarter. Â Hartegan had also pulled down eight boards.

MSU Denver was able to finish the road trip 2-0 with the 70-55 win. The Roadrunners had four end up in double figure scoring.
J'Nae Squires-Horton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.), Ohrdorf and Hartegan all finished with 14 points. Smith recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

MSU Denver will next travel to Fairbanks, Alaska to compete in the Mt. McKinley Bank North Star Invitational November 24-26.
