Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team (5-3, 1-0 RMAC) defeated South Dakota School of Mines (2-4, 0-1 RMAC) on Friday, December 2 at the Auraria Event Center.
 
MSU Denver took control of the first quarter, outscoring S.D. Mines 16-12. The Roadrunners made the most of turnovers converting those into seven points. They also spread out the scoring, with each player to hit the floor to have at least a point. Senior 
Luisa Tago (Medford, Ore./South Medford H.S.) led with four points.
 
The Roadrunner momentum helped them build their lead out to 37-24 at the half. MSU Denver continued their defensive pressure and converted to points on the other end leading 15-7 in points off turnover. As a team, the Roadrunners had generated eight assists and three steals.
 
The Roadrunners went onto seal their conference opener by holding South Dakota Mines to single digit scoring in the third and taking the half 29-22 overall. 
 
Junior 
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) finished with a double-double (17 points & 11 rebounds). Senior 
Jenae Paine (Oregon City, Ore./Oregon City H.S.) added in 13 points and four boards while 
J'Nae Squires-Horton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) chipped in with 11 points of her own.
 
The Roadrunners continue their RMAC home opening weekend tomorrow, December 3, against Black Hills State at 5 p.m.
