Denver, Colorado- Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball (6-2, 2-0 RMAC) defeated Black Hills State University (3-5, 0-2 RMAC) 67-40 on Saturday, December 3 at the Auraria Event Center.
MSU Denver came out the gates hot opening on a 9-0 run. The Roadrunners would increase their lead to 19 points by half time. Peter Moller led the team in scoring with nine points at half, André Harris was en route to a double-double by half time with six points and eight rebounds.
Brian Howard (Maywood, Ill./Saint Ignatius H.S.) and
Sunday Dech (Perth, Australia/Churchlands H.S.) both helped with five points. The Roadrunners held Black Hills State to 26.9% from the field in the first half. While MSU Denver scored 13 points off of 10 turnovers and had 11 second chance points helping the Roadrunners to a 35-16 half time lead.
In the second half the Roadrunners largest lead was 30 points. The Roadrunners continued to be led by Moller and Harris. Moller led all scorers with 22 points and shot 83% from three, Harris completed the double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. The Roadrunners locked down on defense and held the Yellow Jackets to 17.4% from downtown and 27.8% from the field en route to their 67-40 win.
MSU Denver opens their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road schedule on Friday, December 9
th against crosstown rival, Regis at 7 p.m. followed by a trip to Chadron, Nebraska on Saturday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m.
