Denver - The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's and women's tennis teams both fell to Midwestern State at the Regency Athletic Complex on March 22.

On the men's side, the Roadrunners were handed defeats across the board on Tuesday, falling 9-0.  Sophomore Marty Lukosiunas (Vilnius, Lithuania/Countryside H.S. (Fla.)) performed well in the No. 4 singles spot for MSU Denver, but would come up short 5-7, 7-6, 7-3 (10-1) to the Mustang's Radu Popa.  In the doubles competition, sophomore Brandon Nachbar (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon Campus) and senior Porter Emery (Casper, Wyo./San Joaquin H.S. (Calif.)) would force a tiebreaker but would fall 7-5.  The men's record now sits at 5-9.

The women's tennis team was able to secure one win in the 8-1 defeat thanks to freshman Alex Horton (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.).  Horton was able to fight back to win the No. 5 singles match over Alexis Arrieta 1-6, 7-5, 12-10. The women's team now holds a record of 4-12 on the season.

Both teams will travel to Bristol, Tenn. to face King University on March 24 followed by a matches against Young Harris on March 26.  The men's team will play an additonal match on March 25 against the Univeristy of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
