Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's and women's tennis teams each played two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matches on Friday, April 1. Both teams would lose their first match to visiting Western New Mexico and then travel to Colorado Christian to win their matches in the afternoon.

The women's team dropped their first match at home to Western New Mexico 5-4. Sophomore Courtney Wright was able to earn the win in No. 1 singles 6-4, 6-0 over Ashley Newell. In doubles, MSU Denver took two of three from the Mustangs, including a 8-2 dominant performance from Wright and sophomore Emily Kerr in No. 1 doubles. In their second RMAC match of the day, the Roadrunners would bounce back to defeat CCU 7-2. Kerr defeated Jennifer Perkins 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles and MSU Denver was able to win all three doubles matches.

Men's tennis followed a similar path on Friday, dropping their first match to Western New Mexico 8-1 but responding with a strong victory at Colorado Christian 9-0 in the afternoon. The Roadrunners one win in the first match came from sophomore Marty Lukosiunas who defeated Pablo Santibanez 6-7 (0-4), 7-6 (5), 12-10 in the No. 5 singles spot. MSU Denver would win their second match of the day by blanking Colorado Christian. Freshman Joey Tscherne won 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles spot, and like the women's team, the Roadrunners won all three of their doubles matches in Lakewood.

Women's tennis returns to the court on Saturday, April 2 to host Tarleton State at 10 a.m. The men's team will next face Hastings College on Sunday, April 3 at 10 a.m. Both matches will be played at the Regency Athletic Complex.
