Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team defeated West Texas A&M 2-0 in their 2016 season opener on Thursday, September 1 at the Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver.

Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) 14 minutes into the first half.
Sanchez continued to pressure the Lady Buffs defense a majority of the first half, highlighted by a centering feed to reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year
Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.), who put the the Roadrunners up 2-0 with a strike from six yards out with 22 minutes remaining in the first.
The Roadrunners finished the half outshooting West Texas A&M by a tally of 4-1, with four MSU Denver corner kick chances.
Freshman goalkeeper
Erica Torres (Bakersfield, Calif./Baskersfield High School) notched her first career shutout after turning away each Lady Buffalo chance faced on Thursday night. Torres stopped multiple clean looks by West Texas A&M in the second half, finishing the evening with five saves in her Roadrunner debut.
MSU Denver will face Dallas Baptist at home on Saturday, September 3 at 12 noon. Fans can wear their Hawaiian gear for an "End of Summer Party at the game that will feature a number of contests to win prizes.
