Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team begins conference play at home September 16 against Regis and September 17 against Chadron State.
MSU Denver finished 1-3 over this weekend in the Colorado Premier tournament where three out of the four teams the Roadrunners faced were ranked in the AVCA top 25. The Roadrunners fell 3-1 to No. 19 Angelo State, No. 6 Central Missouri, and West Florida. They defeated No. 21 Arkansas Fort Smith 3-2 in a five set thriller. Senior
Michaela Smith (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) was named to the all-tournament team and senior
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) was named RMAC setter of the week. The Roadrunners are 5-3 overall going into RMAC play.
Regis competed in the Colorado Premier as well, finishing 2-2 in tournament play. The Rangers fell 3-0 to No. 2 Wheeling Jesuit and No. 6 Central Missouri while defeating No. 21 Arkansas Fort Smith and Saint Leo 3-1. Regis has an overall record of 4-4. Chadron State competed in the Sanford Pentagon tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota over the weekend where they went 0-4. They were defeated by Winona State, Augustana, and Southern Indiana 3-0. The Eagles are 1-7 overall.
Fans are encouraged to wear red for Rowdy Red night Friday. Fans will get a chance to be featured on the jumbotron by submitting pictures via Twitter with the handle #GetRowody for Social Media Night. For Saturdays game against Chadron State all fans under the age of 18 will receive free admission in honor of Youth Night.
