Golden, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team fell to Colorado School of Mines 2-0 in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opening game of 2016. MSU Denver drops to 1-2-2 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play while the Orediggers are now 5-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the RMAC.

MSU Denver was outshot by the Orediggers 20-9 throughout the game, but freshman goaltender
Erica Torres (Bakersfield, Calif./Baskersfield High School) kept the Roadrunners in the game keeping the game scoreless at the half. Mines continued to pressure throughout the second half until Peyton Saunders put the Orediggers up 1-0 in the 67
th minute of the game off a long kick into the box and an easy finish. Colorado Mines scored again ten minutes later off a free kick that was headed in by Taylor McRae. Torres finished the game saving 7 shots on net. Mines held the advantage in corner kicks 5-3 on the evening.

For the Roadrunners, sophomore
Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) lead the team with three shots. Seniors
Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) and
Ashley Smith (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) each recorded two shots.

MSU Denver will next travel to Lakewood, Colo. to face local foe Colorado Christian at 12 p.m. on Sunday, September 18.
