The MSU Denver men's tennis team saw multiple outstanding performances on the final day of the MSU Denver Invitational.Â
Josh Graetz (Albury, Australia/The Scots School) won the Men's Flight A singles bracket, with scores of 7-5, 6-4 in the championship match. MSU Denver was also victorious in the Men's Flight B singles bracket.Â
Alejandro Martinez-Morilla (Madrid, Spain/I.E. Valdecas) won the title match with scores of 6-3, 6-1.Â
Sam Stember (Melbourne, Fla./Satellite H.S.) was also victorious in the Men's Flight C singles bracket. Stember won 6-3, 7-5 in the title match.
The women's team also turned in championship performances on Sunday.Â
Courtney Wright (Houston, Texas/Memorial H.S.) defeated MSU Denver teammate
Tabitha Porter (Norwich, England/Northcote College) 7-5, 6-1 in the Women's Flight A championship match. In the Women's Flight B championship,
Ainsley Winterrowd (Lacey, Washington/North Thurston High School) defeated teammate
Mackenzie Hotan (Beaverton, Oregon/Southridge High School) 6-2, 6-2. The Women's Flight A doubles final featured two MSU Denver pairs. Wright and
Emily Kerr (Winchester, England/Peter Symonds College) defeated Porter and
Linying Xiao (Guilin, China/St. Mary's Academy (Colo.)) 9-8 (3). MSU Denver also won the Women's Flight B doubles bracket with the pair of Hotan and Ana Vujosevic victorious with a score of 9-8 (5).
The MSU Denver men's tennis team will travel to the ITA Regionals in Wichita Falls, Texas on September 23-25. Â The women's team will next compete at the ITA Regionals in Dallas, Texas on September 29-October 1.
