Golden, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's soccer team defeated Colorado School of Mines 2-1 Sunday in Golden, Colo. The Roadrunners improved to 5-2-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Orediggers fell to 4-3-1 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play.
Colorado Mines got off to an early start in the game scoring in the ninth minute. Trevor Amann scored for the Orediggers off an assist from Nikolaus Grotz. The Roadrunners were quick to respond getting on the board in the 16

Josh Belfrage (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.) converted a penalty kick for his fifth goal of the season. Both teams continued to put the pressure on, finishing the first half with the Orediggers outshooting the Roadrunners 2-1 with shots on goal.
The score remained even at 1-1 until the 85
th minute of the game when Belfrage scored the game winning goal, finishing a header on the back post. Belfrage's sixth goal of the season proved to be the difference maker and MSU Denver was able to hold Colorado Mines off to end the game 2-1 and gain the win.
The Roadrunners will continue their RMAC play against UCCS Wednesday, September 28 at 7 p.m. in Colorado Springs, Colo.
