Women’s Soccer: MSU Denver knocks off Fort Lewis 1-0

Bank provides game winner

Denver - The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team defeated Fort Lewis 1-0 Sunday at the Regency Athletic Complex. The Roadrunners improved their overall record to 3-3-2 and 2-2-0 in conference play. The Skyhawks fell to 3-4-1 and 2-2-0 in the RMAC.

The first half was an even matchup between the two sides with the score remaining 0-0. Both teams took five shots with the Skyhawks edging one shot on goal. Each side notched two corner kicks in the first half.

Sophomore Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) put the Roadrunners on the board in the 60th minute after receiving a pass outside the box from junior Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.).  Banks sent a rocket into the bottom right corner of the net, scoring her third goal of the season. The goal proved to be the difference maker for the Roadrunners with the score ending 1-0 in favor of MSU Denver. Freshman goalkeeper Erica Torres (Bakersfield, Calif./Baskersfield High School) provided the Roadrunners with two saves on the day.

MSU Denver will be back in action against Colorado Mesa on Friday, September 30 at 7 p.m. at the Regency Athletic Complex.
