Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball ball team( 9-7, 5-4 RMAC) defeated Adams State (1-12, 0-9 RMAC) on Friday evening to gain its fifth win in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
MSU Denver entered the game on fire, starting the quarter with a 12-4 run. The Roadrunners would go on to maintain the lead throughout the quarter leading by as many as 9 and going into the second quarter on top 16-7.
The Roadrunners dominated the second quarter holding the Grizzlies to just three points while building strong offense. Junior
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led all scorers with nine first half points. MSU Denver held the Grizzlies to 14 percent from the field while the Roadrunners shot 40 percent. The Roadrunners forced 18 first half turnovers and converted 10 points off them.
In the second half, the Grizzlies scored over double of its first half points scoring 18 points, but that was not enough as the Roadrunners continued to control the half. MSU Denver added 47 second half points to gain the win 80-38.
Ohrdorf led the scorers with 19 points and added three rebounds and three steals. Senior Janae Paine finished with 13 points. The Roadrunners shot 54 percent in the game and held the Grizzlies to a 23 percent shooting percentage.
The Roadrunners travel to CSU-Pueblo next Friday, January 13 to take on the Thunderwolves at 5:30 p.m.
