Golden, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's soccer (4-6-0, 4-2-0 RMAC) team defeated No. 18 Colorado School of Mines (7-3-0, 5-1-0 RMAC) on Sunday, October 1.
Freshman
Nils Runnberg (Barsebäck, Sweden/Jensen Education) scored the game winner in the eighth minute against Colorado School of Mines for his fifth goal of the season. The goal came from a pass from senior
Justin Glivar (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) with his back to goal, Runnberg was then able to turn around a take a shot and the ball was deflected into the net.
The rest of the game proved to be a tough battle between the two sides with a total of 10 cautions being handed out throughout the game.
Both teams had offensive presence in both halfves, but both defenses were strong, not allowing any more goals the rest of the game.
The Orediggers posted eight shots on goal to the Roadrunners five. There was a total of 33 fouls in the game.
The Roadrunners will return home on Friday, October 6 to host Fort Lewis at 7:30 p.m.
