Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's soccer team was outmatched by the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks on Friday October 6. The Roadrunners dropped to 4-7 overall and 4-3 in the RMAC. The Skyhawks are now 4-3-4 overall and 1-2 in RMAC play.

The Roadrunners and Skyhawks both came out wanting to play an aggressive immediately make it a fast-paced match. The intensity on the field was palpable as both teams struggled to control the ball. MSU Denver shot the ball four times in the half, landing two of them on goal.

Fort Lewis had a clear edge offensively by the end of the period. The Skyhawks recorded 11 total shots; four of those shots were on goal, forcing MSU Denver goalie, junior
James Tanner (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens H.S.), to make four incredible saves. The half ended in a 0-0 tie.

The Skyhawks scored the first goal of the game early into the second half when Ryan Lee lobbed a shot over goalie Tanner for his fourth goal of the season; Raul Pescador assisted Lee on the goal.

A Fort Lewis corner kick resulted in an own-goal by the Roadrunners at 67:18 to give the Skyhawks a 2-0 lead.

Five and a half minutes later, Churchill Onumonu gave Fort Lewis a commanding 3-0 lead after he curved in a shot from the left end lineto curve it into the right corner of the net.

 The Roadrunners were unable to muster any momentum after Onumonu's goal and the game ended 3-0 in favor of the Skyhawks.

The Roadrunners travel to Alamosa, Colorado Sunday, October 8 for a matchup with the Adams State University Grizzlies. The game will begin at noon.Â
