Gunnison, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team (8-6, 7-3 RMAC) defeated Western State (4-7-4, 3-5-1 RMAC) 2-1 to kick off its road trip on Friday, October 20.
The Roadrunners began the game immediately firing shots at the Mountaineers back line. Posting six shots in the first 13 minutes of the half. Junior
Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.) was able to break the seel in the 15
th minute going one on one in the six-yard box to score her sixth goal of the season.
It didn't take long for the Mountaineers to answer back, getting behind the Roadrunners defense for Jessica Kresel to find the back of the net from inside the six.

Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) countered scoring the go-ahead goal a 2-1 taking a shot from the right side of the field.
The score remained at 2-1 going into the second half. Although there was several offensive chances for both sides, the game would end with the Roadrunners on top 2-1.
The Roadrunners outshot the Mountaineers 22-13 putting nine shots on goal to six. Banks and Boisnard finished the game with three shots on goal. Sophomore goal keeper
Erica Torres (Bakersfield, Calif./Baskersfield High School) made five saves in the game.
The Roadrunners will travel to UCCS on Sunday to take on the Mountain Lions at 12 noon.
