Spearfish, S.D.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team (16-7, 13-2 RMAC) defeated Black Hills State (10-14, 7-8 RMAC) to sweep its weekend in South Dakota.

The Roadrunners got a great start in the first game of the match taking an early 7-2 lead. Following a called timeout from the Yellow Jackets, the Roadrunners didn't let up maintaining a comfortable lead.

MSU Denver would go on to take the first set 25-17.

The second game of the match was much like the first with MSU Denver never losing its lead. After leading 20-12 the Yellow Jackets fought to cut the Roadrunners lead brining the score taking a 6-2 run to bring the score to 22-18. However, the Roadrunners were able to finish the job earning a 25-19 second set win.

The third set put the seal on the deal with the Roadrunners taking the set 25-15.

The Roadrunners held the Yellow Jackets to a .073 hitting percentage on the night. The team was lead by junior
Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) finishing the match with 16 kills with a .438 hitting percentage and 12 digs. Junior
Taylor Duryea (Logan, Utah/Sky View High School) added nine for the Roadrunners. Â Senior
Jackie Lopez (Encino, Calif./Notre Dame H.S.) ended with a match high 16 digs.

The Roadrunners will return home to host Western State on Friday, November 3 at 7 p.m.
