Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team (10-6, 6-1 RMAC) defeated Westminster College (Utah) (5-11, 2-6 RMAC) on Saturday, October 7 in three sets.
 
The Roadrunners took control from the beginning, dominating the first set of the match. After taking an early 7-2 lead, the team continued to keep a significant lead throughout. MSU Denver continued to breakaway and would end the set on top 25-12 with three Roadrunners posting two kills.
 
The second game of the match was much like the first with the Roadrunners allowing no spark for the Griffins. MSU Denver nearly held Westminster to single digits in the set, allowing just 11 points in the game. The Roadrunners posted a 91 attack percentage in set two while holding the Griffins to 41 percent.
 
Westminster was able to keep the third set closer than the first two, but the Roadrunners continued to control the momentum of the game. The Griffins were able to bring the score to within three at 22-19, but the Roadrunner ran away with the game 25-21.
 
The Roadrunners were led by junior Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) posting nine kills and eight digs.  Junior Stephanie Laraway (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood H.S.) added eight kills for the Roadrunners.
 
The Roadrunners will host New Mexico Highlands next Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m.
