Stephenville, Texas- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team fell 90-82 in the second game of its road trip against Angelo State.
The first half went back and forth between the two sides. The Belles jumped to an early 5-0 lead over the Roadrunners to start the game and would hold the Roadrunners to just two points through the first five minutes of the half, taking an 11-2 lead.
MSU Denver then went on a 9-0 run to tie the game up at 11 with 11:57 remaining in the half. The Belles then stole the lead back taking a 19-11 lead, but the Roadrunners fought back to take a 22-21 lead after a made three-pointer from senior
Shane Fox (Colorado Springs, Colo./Doherty H.S.). A made layup from
Cameron Williams (Omaha, Nebraska/Omaha South H.S.) and three from
Peter Møller (Værløse, Denmark/Falkonergårdens Gymnasium) would extend the lead to 27-21 with 5:58 left on the first half clock.
The Belles would go on to tie the game two more times in the half, but the Roadrunners ended the first half on top 37-35.
Cam Williams let the Roadrunner with nine first half points. The Roadrunners shot 42 percent from the field in the first half.
Angelo came out in the second half just like the first, taking the lead just over a minute into the half. The Belles would hold the lead until just under 10 minutes left in the game when a made basket from behind the arch from Enrique Cortes-Zotes and a layup from Cain Van Heyningen would tie the game up at 57.
Cam Williams finished with 24 points for the Roadrunners and added four rebounds and five assists. Senior
Bounama Keita (Saint-Louis, Senegal/Impact Basketball Academy (Fla.)) added eight points for his team with a game high 12 boards.
Allec Williams (Albany, Ga./Westover High School) finished the day with 11 points and senior
Peter Møller (Værløse, Denmark/Falkonergårdens Gymnasium) added 10.
The Belles went on to take the lead again from the Roadrunners and would maintain it through to the end, winning 90-82.
The Roadrunner will travel to take on No. 1 Northwest Missouri State University next Friday, November 17 at 7 p.m. CT.
