Spearfish, S.D.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team earned a 62-56 win over Black Hills State to sweep its first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference road trip.
The Roadrunners were quick to open up the game with a 7-2 lead over the Yellow Jackets and they would continue to maintain the lead the following minutes. With eight minutes to go in the first half, senior
Kyle Lawson (Tustin, Calif./Foothill H.S.) hit one from behind the arch to give the Roadrunners its largest lead at 23-12.
Black Hills went on a significant run to end the second half, scoring two threes in a row in the last 30 seconds of the half cutting the Roadrunners lead to five going into half time.
The Roadrunners shot 40 percent from the field in the first half and held the Yellow Jackets to 35 percent.
The Yellow Jackets scored the first four points of the second half to tie the game for the first tie since the begging of the game.
Senior Bouname Keita scored the next six points for the Roadrunners to take back a six point lead for the Roadrunners.
Although the Yellow Jackets came within one-point, the Roadrunners would go on to never lose its lead for the rest of the half, taking a 62-56 win.
Cam Williams led the Roadrunners with 25 points and four steals. Keita finished the night with a double double, posting 11 points and 12 rebounds.
MSU Denver will return home to take on Regis on Friday, December 8 at 7 p.m.
