Emporia, Kansas- The Metropolitan State University of Denver's baseball team fell 10-5 to Emporia State on Saturday, February 11. The Roadrunners fell to 2-4 while the Hornets improved to 4-1.

MSU Denver had a great start to the game with junior Donny Ortiz Jr. and Senior
Jake Ekman (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge H.S.) making in on base, followed by a homer hit by junior
Cale O'Donnell (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) to score three runs to put the Roadrunners up.

Javi Vega (Chula Vista, Calif./Castle Park H.S.) started at pitcher for the Roadrunners holding the Hornets run less with two hits through the first two innings.

The Roadrunners made it back on the board in the board in the third inning with Ekman making it on base after a double and O'Donnel of a single through the right side. Junior
Hunter Donaldson (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) made it on base on an error, sending Ekman home to make the score 4-0 in favor of the Roadrunners.

The Hornets kicked it in gear in the bottom of the third, scoring three runs on three hits to cut the lead to 4-3. Emporia added another run in the fourth while holding the Roadrunners scoreless in the top of the inning making the score tied at four going into the fifth inning.

The fifth and sixth inning proved to be eventless for the two sides with there being a total of three hits from both teams.

Three singles in a row for the Roadrunners by Kennedy, O'Donnell, and Donaldson led to another run to regain the MSU Denver lead 5-4. However, Emporia would have the edge in the inning adding two more runs off of two hits to take the lead 6-5.

The bottom of eighth inning would seal the deal for the Hornets with the team adding four more runs off of four hits taking a 10-5 lead.

The Hornets would hold the Roadrunners at five to gain the victory 10-5.

MSU Denver will complete its road trip at Emporia tomorrow with the game starting at 11 a.m.
