Emporia Kansas- The Metropolitan State University of Denver's baseball team fell in its last game at Emporia State 3-0. The Roadrunners fell to 2-5 overall and the Hornets improved to 5-1.

The Roadrunners began the top of the first getting one hit off
Jake Thurston (Centennial, Colo./Grandview H.S.), but were not able to bring any runs home. Junior
Beecher Strube (Casper, WY/Kelly Walsh High School ) started on the mound for the Roadrunners and would pitch seven innings for his team.

The Hornets were able to score in the bottom of the first off one hit. The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Hornets throughout most of the game into the seventh inning.

The Roadrunners notched two more hits in the game while leaving three on base in third inning but were unable to capitalize. The Hornets were held to four hits through the seventh inning with one left on base.

In the bottom of the seventh the Hornets made it back on the scoreboard, scoring two runs off of two hits with one being a triple down the right field line to make the score 3-0.

Sophomore
Hunter Hogoboom (Arvada, Colo./Pomona H.S.) entered the game at pitcher for the Roadrunners to hold the Hornets scoreless through the eighth inning.

The Roadrunners were unable to make the comeback through the eighth and ninth inning as the Hornets took the win 3-0.

The Roadrunners will play Sioux Falls on Friday, February 24 at 12 noon at the Regency Athletic Complex.
