Austin, Texas- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season in double overtime at No. 23 St. Edwards University Saturday, September 2. The Roadrunners end their first road trip at 1-1 overall while the Hilltoppers improved to 2-0 on the season.

In what was a very competitive match, MSU Denver could only manage to get two shots on goal opposed to St. Edwards four, the last one being the dagger at the 114
th minute mark in extra time.

The Roadrunner's got off to a slow start allowing a shot by the Hilltoppers in the first minute of the game, but were able to counter with a shot of their own in the eighth, ending the half with two good offensive opportunities.

The second half was a back in forth battle with both sides not capitalizing on any chance, resulting in the game going into extra time.

The first overtime period was scoreless for both sides. But St. Edward's would score the game winning goal in the 114
th minute when the Hilltoppers earned a corner. Morgan Palmer scored a rebounded shot to the left side of the goal, ending the game at 1-0.

The Roadrunners look to rebound against Seattle Pacific University Thursday, September 7 at 3 p.m. at the Regency Athletic Complex.Â
