Women's Soccer: Banks Scores to Push Roadrunners Past Skyhawks

Roadrunners win 1-0

Durango, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team (4-4-0, 3-1-0 RMAC) defeated Fort Lewis (1-5-1, 1-3-0 RMAC) 1-0 on Sunday, September 24 to wrap up its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference weekend road trip.

One goal in the 25th minute would be the difference maker in the game coming from MSU Denver junior, Reigna Banks (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield H.S.).

The goal came halfway through the first half when senior Elise Boisnard (Denver, Colo./Wheat Ridge H.S.) played a ball right to the foot of Banks who was able to tap in it in past the Fort Lewis goal keeper for her second goal of the season.

The Roadrunners continued to pressure the Skyhawks posting two more shots on goal in the half. But the score would remain 1-0 in favor of MSU Denver going into half time.

Fort Lewis came out of half ready for revenge firing four shots on the Roadrunners in the first fifteen minutes.  However, the Roadrunners defense stopped everything that came their way to remain on top.

MSU Denver would put together some attack once getting settled into the half, putting pressure on the Skyhawks defense and forcing some saves from the Skyhawks goal keeper.

The early goal would prove to be enough as there was no more goals the rest of the half. The Roadrunner would out shoot the Skyhawks with seven of their eight shots being on goal.  The Skyhawks had 13 shots with two on net.

The Roadrunners will travel to Westminster College to take on the Griffens on Friday, September 29 at 12:30 p.m. in Salt Lake City, Utah.
