Men’s Basketball: Roadrunners Fall at Adams State

MSU Denver falls 80-62 at Adams State

Alamosa, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team fell 80-62 to Adams State on Saturday, January 6.  The Roadrunners fell to 7-8 overall and 6-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Grizzlies improved to 8-8 overall and 6-4 in conference.
 
Adams State started off the game strong scoring a bucket from downtown on its first possession. The Roadrunners were able to tie the game back up at three, but the following minutes belonged to the Grizzlies.
 
The Grizzlies scored three from downtown to complete a 9-0 run and take a 10-point lead with just under 13 minutes remaining in the first half.
 
The Roadrunners were unable to make a strong run for the comeback in the first half, with the Grizzlies going into the locker room on top 33-21.
 
Senior Cameron Williams (Omaha, Nebraska/Omaha South H.S.) led the Roadrunners with six first half points. MSU Denver shot 30 percent from the field while Adams State shot 38.  The Grizzlies out rebounded the Roadrunners 24-15 in the first half.
 
MSU Denver was unable to catch Adams State in the second half as the Grizzlies continued to put the pressure on the Roadrunners.  The Grizzlies led by as many 16 in the half with the Roadrunners coming within seven points several different times early on.
 
Cam Williams finished the night with 21 points.  Junior Jaryn Taylor (Yucaipa, Calif./Yucaipa High School) added 13 points in the game and led the team with nine rebounds. The Grizzlies shot an impressive 52 percent from the three and 47 percent from the field.  The Roadrunners were held to 39 percent from the field while shooting 40 percent from behind the arch.
 
The Roadrunners will return home to host CSU-Pueblo on Friday, January 12 at 7 p.m.
