Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team defeated Regis 70-68 to completed a road weekend sweep. The Roadrunners improved to 18-7 overall and 14-5 in conference play.
The game started off even between the two sides with five lead changes in the first quarter. A three from Regis would give the Rangers their largest lead of the quarter at 12-9 with 1:25 remaining. The final minute was full of action with senior
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) regaining the Roadrunners lead with 10 seconds to play, however, the Rangers pushed the ball down court to take a 15-13 lead going into the second quarter.
The second quarter remained close, but the Roadrunners came out on top 30-27. MSU Denver shot 50 percent in the first half and Ohrdorf led her team with 10 first half points.
The Roadrunners came out of the gates strong at half ending the third quarter with the largest lead of the game 52-43.
The Rangers fought back in the fourth bringing the scoring within one just minutes into the fourth at 52-51.
MSU Denver regained a seven point lead over the rangers but Regis continues to fight.
The Roadrunners were able to keep the lead through the remainder of the game and earn the 70-68 win on the road.
Ohrdorf led the Roadrunners with 24 points and 8 rebounds.
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) added 16 and J'Nae Squires Horton ended the night with 15.
MSU Denver will take on UCCS on Saturday February 17 at 5 p.m.
