Men's Basketball: Roadrunners Fall Short at UCCS

Cam Williams scores season high 38 points

Colorado Springs, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team fell to UCCS 88-81 on Saturday night.  The Roadrunners fell to 14-12 overall and 13-7 in the RMAC. The Mountain Lions improved to 13-13 overall and 10-10 in conference.
 
The first half stayed very close between the two sides with several lead changes to start.
 
Senior Cameron Williams (Omaha, Nebraska/Omaha South H.S.) led the Roadrunners with a season high 38 points. Junior Jaryn Taylor (Yucaipa, Calif./Yucaipa High School) added 14 for MSU Denver. 
 
The largest lead of the half for either side came with 3:45 remaining in the first with the Roadrunners leading the Mountain Lions 32-26. However, UCCS would go on a 7-0 run to steal the lead. The Mountain Lions would head into the locker room at half on top 41-38. 
 
Senior Cameron Williams (Omaha, Nebraska/Omaha South H.S.) had a season higher 23 first half points for the Roadrunners. 
 
The Mountain Lions canine out of the gates strong in the second half holding MSU Denver to just four points in the first six minutes of the second half. 
 
The Roadrunners made a strong effort for a comeback going on a seven point run with a three from senior Shane Fox (Colorado Springs, Colo./Doherty H.S.) getting the Roadrunners within two and a jumper from Cam Williams tying the game up at 74 with 3:41 remaining in the game. 
 
UCCS were able to answer with a 7-0 run to regain the lead and the Roadrunners were unable to catch the Mountain Lions. 
 
MSU Denver will return home next Friday to take on Colorado Christian.
