Lubbock, Texas- The Metropolitan State University of Denver baseball team fell 6-4 in game one of the four game series against Lubbock Christian on Thursday, February 22.

The Chaps jumped out to a quick start putting up a run in the bottom of the first off one hit to score an unearned run.

The score would remain 1-0 in favor of Lubbock Christian through the second, until they were able to put another one up on the board in the bottom of the third, getting two hits off the Roadrunners.

MSU Denver made it on the board the following inning, with the bases loaded, freshman
Jimmy Holinger (Parker, CO/Regis Jesuit High School) drew a walk to score the first run of the game for the Roadrunners and cutting the score to 2-1.

With the score 2-1 through the fifth, the Roadrunners had a strong sixth inning to steal the lead from the Chaps. Sophomore
Dylan Nelson (Morriaon, Colo./D'Evelyn Jr/Sr High School), hit a three run homer out of the park for the Roadrunners to take the 4-2 lead. However, Lubbock Christian would answer in the bottom of the inning scoring two more runs.

MSU Denver was unable to make the comeback after the Chaps took the lead, and scored two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the 6-4 win in game one.

The Roadrunner out hit the Chaps 12-7 in game one. Â
Logan Soole (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.),
Draven Adame (Lamar, Colo. /Lamar High School), and
Jake Kistaitis (Omaha, Nebraska/ Millard West High School) all led the Roadrunners with two hits.

The Roadrunners will be back in action against the Chaps tomorrow, Friday, February 23 in a double header scheduled to start at 2 p.m. CT.
