Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team defeated Colorado Christian on Friday, February 23. The Roadrunners improved to 20-7 overall and 16-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Cougars fell to 7-19 overall and 5-16 in the conference.
Four finished in double figures for the Roadrunners. Senior
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led the Roadrunners with 24 points and seven boards. Senior
Mikala Gordon (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo H.S.) added 17, junior
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) put up 14 and senior
J'Nae Squires-Horton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) added 10 for her team.
The Roadrunners had a great start to the first quarter, forcing a Cougar turnover on their first possession followed by junior
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) draining one from downtown.
MSU Denver would hold a 16-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Roadrunners outscored the Cougars 25-10 in the first quarter to hold a 41-19 lead at the end of the first half.
Senior
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led the Roadrunners with 12 first half points and seven rebounds. MSU Denver shot 48 percent in the half and held the Cougars to 26 percent.
The third quarter was fairly even between the two sides with the Cougars having a slight advantage outscoring the Roadrunners 15-13.
The fourth quarter wrapped up the night with the Roadrunners having the upper hand on points 25-18.
