Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team defeated Colorado School of Mines 67-53 on senior night to wrap up its 2018 regular season play. The Roadrunners improved to 21-7 overall and 17-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Orediggers fell to 18-10 overall and 15-7 in conference.

Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led her team with 20 points and nine rebounds. Junior
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) ended with 16 points for the Roadrunners and Senior
Mikala Gordon (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo H.S.) led the game with 11 board.

The first quarter stayed fairly even between the two sides with the Orediggers holding a four point lead heading into the second.

The Roadrunners made a great run to begin the second quarter when Ohrdorf converted a three-point play to bring MSU Denver within one. The Roadrunners went on to steal the lead from Mines following a three pointer from senior
J'Nae Squires-Horton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) to put her team up 20-19.

The remainder of the half stayed close between the two teams but MSU Denver came out with the 30-27 edge. Squires-Horton led the Roadrunners with eight first half points. The Roadrunners shot 41 percent from the field in the first half and held the Orediggers to 33 percent.

The Roadrunners started off the third quarter strong going on a 7-2 run to take an 8-point lead. The Orediggers were able to cut the lead down to five with just over 4:18 left in the third, but MSU Denver was able to extend its lead to 52-42 heading into the final quarter.

The Roadrunner took care of business in the fourth quart not allowing the Orediggers back in the game. The final score ended 67-53 in favor of the Roadrunners.
MSU Denver will host the quarterfinals of the RMAC tournament on Tuesday, February 27.Â
