Denver- The Metropolitan State University men's basketball defeated South Dakota School of Mines 50-45 on Saturday night to complete a weekend sweep at home.  The Roadrunners improved to 13-10 overall and 12-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  The Hardrockers fell to 7-15 overall and 4-13 in conference.
 
The first half remained close between the two sides with neither side leading by four to begin.  The Roadrunners took the largest lead of the half after two made threes from sophomores Alvaro Reyes-Abad (Malaga, Spain/I.E.S. Felo Manzon Grau Basas) and Allec Williams (Albany, Ga./Westover High School).
 
The Hardrockers would go on to tie the game up with 2:24 remaining in the half.  They would outscore the Roadrunners 5-2 to end the half on top 29-26.
 
The Roadrunners controlled the beginning of the second half taking a eight-point lead after a 12-0 run completed with 10:37 remaining in the game.
 
South Dakota Mines fought hard and was able to bring the score back within one, but the Roadrunners were able to hold on for a 55-63 victory.
 
Senior Cameron Williams (Omaha, Nebraska/Omaha South H.S.) led the Roadrunners with 21 points.  Allec Williams (Albany, Ga./Westover High School) added 16 on the night and junior Jaryn Taylor (Yucaipa, Calif./Yucaipa High School) led the Roadrunners with six boards.
