Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team earned a 69-60 win over South Dakota Mines on Saturday to earn a 2-0 sweep on the weekend. The Roadrunners improved to 16-7 overall and 12-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Hardrockers fell to 14-9 overall and 9-8 in the RMAC.
The Hardrockers got off to a great start the game jumping out to an early 12-2 lead, holding the Roadrunners scoreless for nearly five minutes in the first quarter.
The second quarter was much more even between the two sides, with South Dakota Mines outscoring the Roadrunners just 16-15. The first half score remained in favor of the Hardrockers with 30-21. Hartegan led the Roadrunners at half with 8 points.
MSU Denver kicked it into gear in the second half scoring nine points a minute and a half into the third quarter cutting the lead tie the game up at 30. The score remained close through most of the third quarter until the Roadrunners were able to make a small breakaway to take a five-point lead heading into the final quarter.
The Roadrunners continued the momentum into the fourth going on an 8-2 run to start the quarter to take their largest lead of the game at 59-46 with just under seven minutes left to play.
The Hardrockers were able to cut the lead down to three with 2:51 left on the clock, but the Roadrunners held on and ended the game with a nine-point victory, 60-69.

Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) finished the night with 26 points with 21 coming in the second half.
MSU Denver will play Chadron State on the road on Friday, February 9 at 5:30 p.m.
