St. George, Utah- The Metropolitan State University of Denver softball team fell in both games in day two of the Easton Classic in Utah. The Roadrunners fell in the first game to Montana State Billings 10-2 and 7-0 to Concordia Irvine in the second game.

Billings started the first inning off strong scoring a three run homer following by a single run homer to take an early 4-0 lead over the Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners fought back in the bottom of the first inning.Â
Celyn Whitt (Broomfield, CO/Legacy High School),
Annika Anderson (Loveland, Colo./Loveland H.S.) and
Jasmine Wessel (Thornton, CO/Horizon High School) all earned walks to load the bases for the Roadrunners. Senior
Kristyn Peters (Lakewood, CO/Dakota Ridge) hit a single up the middle to score two runners, cutting the lead to 4-2.

MSU Denver was held scoreless through the remainder of the game and the Hornets scored four more runs in fourth off a grand slam, extending the lead to 8-2. Billings would wrap up the game scoring two in the top of the eighth to earned the 10-2 win over the Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners faced tough pitching in the second game against Concordia Irvine. MSU Denver was able to hold the Eagles scoreless in the first inning, however, the Eagles would put on run up in the second to take the 1-0 lead.

The Eagles would then explode in the third inning scoring four more runs to extend the lead to 5-0.

Two more runs in the fifth would be the final scoring of the game with the Eagles scoring a two run homer to earn the 7-0 win over the Roadrunners.

The Roadrunners were held to four hits in the game while the Eagles posted 10.

MSU Denver will take on Cal-Baptist tomorrow at 10 a.m. to wrap up play at the Easton Classic.Â
