Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver baseball team fell to No. 11Â Colorado Mesa Tuesday afternoon. The Roadrunners fell to 9-12 overall and 7-6 in the RMAC. The Mavericks improved to 16-5 overall and 8-1 in conference play.

The Mavericks were the first to break the scoring scoring two unearned runs in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.

Mesa was able to score four more runs on the Roadrunners in the fourth.Â

The Mavericks held the Roadrunners to just one hit through the fifth inning. Junior
Logan Soole (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) earned the second hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth. The Roadrunners were then able to load the bases on walks, however, the Mavericks held the Roadrunners scoreless in the inning.

The Mavericks were able to hold the Roadrunners again in the bottom of the seventh when the Roadrunner loaded the bases for the second time.Â

The Roadrunners were able to put one more run up in the bottom of the ninth, but that would be the end of the scoring and the Mavericks were able to take the 8-2 win.
MSU Denver will hold a four game series against Colorado School of Mines this upcoming weekend with the first game beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 16.Â
