Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver baseball team fell 10-8 to Colorado School of Mines on Friday afternoon in game one of a four game series.

Javi Vega (Chula Vista, Calif./Castle Park H.S.) started on the mound for MSU Denver to pitch five innings for his team. The Roadrunners got off to a great start in the bottom of the first putting up three runs on the Orediggers on three hits.

Mines made it on the board in the top of the second inning, however, the Roadrunners held them to the lone run through the next two innings.

The Roadrunners scored one run in the bottom of the second and junior
Jake Kistaitis (Omaha, Nebraska/ Millard West High School) knocked one out of the park in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead.

The Orediggers would score a solo home run in the top of the fourth, but Senior
Cale O'Donnell (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) would answer scoring a two run homer to take a 7-2 lead for the Roadrunners.

Mines had a strong sixth inning scoring four runs on the Roadrunners, with a  three run homer, cutting the lead to within one. The Orediggers would then go on to take the lead from the Roadrunners scoring four runs, two in the sixth and two in the seventh.

The Roadrunners were able to put one more up on the board, but that wouldn't be enough and the Orediggers took the 10-8 win.

The two sides will continue its double header tomorrow, Saturday, March 17 at 12 noon.
