Alamosa, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver baseball team defeated Adams State in a pair of games on Saturday afternoon.  MSU Denver won the first game 13-2 and the second game 8-7.
 
Sophomore 
Logan Soole (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) took the mound for the Roadrunners in the first game.  He pitched six innings and gave up only two runs on four hits while striking out six.  Senior 
Donny Ortiz, Jr. (Littleton, CO/Columbine High School) had a great day offensively.  Ortiz went 4-for-5 from the plate driving in four runs and scoring three more.  The game was 2-0 until the fifth inning when the Roadrunners were able to put up four runs and blow the game open.
 
The second game was a much tighter throughout.  The game was tied 2-2 into the fourth inning.  Adams State put up four runs in the bottom of the fourth, but the Roadrunners would respond and tie the game at 6-6 in the top of the sixth inning.  Adams State would again take the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Junior 
Draven Adame (Lamar, Colo. /Lamar High School) doubled to right-center in the top of the seventh inning to drive in seniors 
Trent Maloney (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) and 
Sean Kennedy (Aurora, Colo./Grandview High School).  Senior 
Cale O'Donnell (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain H.S.) closed the game for the Roadrunners to earn his second save of the season.
 
The next game for the Roadrunners will be Sunday, March 25 when they will face Adams State for the final game of the series.  First pitch is scheduled for 12 noon.
