Denver, CO - The Metropolitan State University of Denver softball team defeated the Regis Rangers in both games of a doubleheader played Saturday.
The Roadrunners prevailed in the first game 3-0 behind a strong outing by pitcher
Darby McGhee (Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo High School). McGhee pitched the complete game, scattering four hits over seven innings.Â
MSU Denver got on the board in the bottom of the third when
Megan Sansburn (/Dakota Ridge H.S. )Â ripped an RBI double to left center. The Roadrunners would go on to put up one run in the fourth and fifth to complete the three-run shutout victory.
The Roadrunners kept the momentum going in the second game winning by a score of 14-0 to improve to .500 with an overall record of 18-18 and 13-9 in RMAC play. The Rangers fall to 22-12 and 17-5 in RMAC play.
The Roadrunners came out on fire in game two of the evening, putting up seven runs in the first inning. Sansburn continued to be hot, as she went two-for-three at the plate with two runs batted in. Leadoff hitter
Ashlee Kim (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) also flashed a live bat at the plate, going two-for-four and scoring two runs.
Kristyn Peters (Lakewood, CO/Dakota Ridge) and
Celyn Whitt (Broomfield, CO/Legacy High School) each added a homerun for the Roadrunners, helping
Kylee Burnside (Idaho Falls, Idaho/Skyline H.S.) get the victory.
The Roadrunners will face the Rangers on Saturday, March 31Â in a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
