DENVER –   The Metropolitan State University of Denver Baseball team dropped a pair of games against UCCS on Sunday afternoon. The Roadrunners (18-19, 14-10 RMAC) celebrated their nine seniors before game one against the Mountain Lions.

The Roadrunners struggled to get much going at the plate for the majority of the first game and ultimately fell to UCCS 11-2.

Javi Vega (Chula Vista, Calif./Castle Park H.S.) got the start on the mound for MSU Denver in game one and lasted 4.2 innings giving up just five hits and one earned run. The Roadrunners hurt themselves by committing five errors in the game which lead to eight unearned runs for the Mountain Lions.

UCCS got on the board first with a solo homerun to left center field in the second inning and then added another six runs in the fifth inning with four runs coming from a grand-slam.

Nic Hansen (Monument, Colo./Palmer Ridge H.S.) pitched one and one-third innings of relief in game one for MSU and gave up zero hits and struck out two batters.

Draven Adame (Lamar, Colo. /Lamar High School) had a solid game at the plate for the Roadrunners, going 2-4 with one RBI. With the loss, Vega fell to 2-4 on the season. Â

Aaron Germani (Littleton, Colo./ThunderRidge H.S.) gave the Roadrunners an early 1-0 lead in game two when he hit a double down the left field line in the second inning. However, the Mountain Lions answered right back in the top of the third inning with a two-run homerun to take a 2-1 lead.

UCCS took a 8-1 lead after a big fifth inning where they hit a two-run homerun and a three-run homerun.

The Roadrunners failed to add to their total over the remaining five innings and the Mountain Lions took game two 8-1.

Logan Soole (Louisville, Colo./Monarch H.S.) got the start at pitcher for the Roadrunners in the second game. He went 4.2 innings and gave up six earned runs en route to his first loss of the season and dropping him to 4-1 on the year.

The Roadrunners and Mountain Lions will finish their series Monday afternoon when the teams will play another double header with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Regency Athletic Complex.

 The games on Monday will be MSU Denver's 'Strikeout Cancer Game' and the team will wear special teal uniforms.Â
