Grand Junction, Colo. - The Metropolitan State University of Denver baseball team fell 14-3 in game one against No. 14 Colorado Mesa on Thursday night.
The Mavericks jumped out to a quick lead hitting three home runs within the first three innings to take a 7-2 lead over the Roadrunners.
The two runs for the Roadrunners came in the third when seniors
Sean Kennedy and
Hunter Donaldson both earned an RBI in the inning.
MSU Denver would only score one more run in the game on a Maverick error in the top of the fifth.
Colorado Mesa was able to score seven more runs to run away with the 14-3 win.
Senior Donny Ortiz Jr. and junior
Jake Kistaitis led the Roadrunners from the plate, both going 2-4.
The series will continue tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. in Grand Junction.
