DENVER –The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's tennis team looks to keep up its winning ways in duals Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Thursday's 1 p.m. home matchup against the University of Nebraska at Kearney is the Roadrunners' only appearance at the Regency Athletic Complex this fall.
The women's team posted impressive results last weekend at the Air Force Invitational and is seeking to continue building momentum.
Among last weekend's superlatives, sophomore
Alex Pessoa (/) and freshman
Helena Steenberg (Skodsborg, Denmark/Naerum Gymnasium, Naerum, Denmark) were undefeated.
"It didn't surprise me, but I hadn't really had an opportunity to sit and watch them for an extended period of time," MSU Denver coach
Josh Graetz said of the women's team's success. "For Alex and Helena to come out of the weekend undefeated after playing quite a few matches, that's quite a feat."
MSU Denver spends the weekend in Pueblo, Colo., playing in the Colorado State University-Pueblo Duals. Friday the Roadrunners face Texas-Permian Basin at 9 a.m., while Saturday's schedule calls for matchups with Newman (Kan.) at 8:15 a.m. and Fort Hays State (Kan.) at 2:30 p.m.
"All four of them are going to be tough for sure, there's no real easy match," Graetz said. "And that's what you want. You want to have to fight in every match."
