@MSUDenverMSOC: Roadrunners Suffer Disappointing Loss

MSU Denver puts one shot on goal in 1-0 defeat

PUEBLO, Colo. – Daniel Himmelsbach scored in the 61st minute, and CSU-Pueblo defeated MSU Denver 1-0 Friday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's soccer.

It was a disappointing result for the Roadrunners, who were coming off a four-point weekend that included a tie against first-place Colorado School of Mines.

"We got outplayed," Metropolitan State University of Denver coach Hank Lewis said. "Our intention was to pick up where we left off. In soccer, your next half should be a reflection of your last half. We were expecting to use the energy and the rise from what we did the last two games, and I simply feel it was a failure for a team to play like a team."

CSU-Pueblo (3-8 overall, 2-4 RMAC) took 20 shots to MSU Denver's seven. And the Roadrunners (4-6-1, 2-4-1) put just one shot on goal compared to CSU-Pueblo's seven.

"We probably didn't connect more than five multi-pass combinations to attack in either half," Lewis said. "We're a team that's dangerous when we connect with multiple-pass combinations going forward. We didn't generate team football to get in front of the goal and be dangerous."

MSU Denver will look to turn things around Sunday in a 1 p.m. game at Adams State (1-7-1, 1-5-1).
